.SE Domain Registration
The dot SE country-code top-level extension was established in 1986 and assigned to Sweden. During the first years after its introduction, the registration process was pretty restrictive, so a very low number of domains were bought. Individuals could acquire solely one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a must, i.e. only Swedish persons, companies and organizations were able to buy a .SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was loosened significantly and, as a result, the number of dot SE domains has been increasing each year.
Nowadays, anybody can buy a dot SE domain name, which gives you the opportunity to contact the Swedish web community even if you do not have a local presence. We are among the registrars that offer such domains, considering the fact that they cannot be ordered directly from the Registry organization. We can also assist you with the registration process because the Registry needs certain documentation such as an ID for persons or a registration certificate for business entities. This is a one-time process, which will not be needed for further renewals, and we can save you all the hassle by working with the Registry organization to get your dot SE domain up and running in no time.
The dot SE country-code top-level domain is also among the extensions that can be used for the so-called “domain hacks”, i.e. using a domain with a certain TLD to represent a word. A couple of examples would be “ofcour.se”, “endor.se”, etc., so you will be able to purchase an inventive and easy-to-remember domain name. Such a name will also be easy to share, which can increase the popularity of your site.
